I'm Goutham Kodakandla and I'm a Photographer! Yayyy
Ever since I was a little boy, I dreamed of taking photographs. I very clearly remember the first time someone let me 'touch' a camera. I was maybe 7 or 8, that I do not remember. I was at a cousin's wedding and we were taking photographs using a Kodak film camera. You know the one without interchangeable lenses, fixed focal length and aperture, no control on shutter speed, and you have to say 'cheese' and ask your subject to stay still. Yes, that camera. I loved that experience. Looking through the viewfinder was somehow different than looking at people normally. I could take 2 shots, maybe 3, but it was a film camera and no one wanted to waste the film, understandably!
I didn't buy my own camera until very recently (middle of 2015), and when I did, I bought a DSLR. A Nikon D5300. All the pictures on this website have been shot on that camera. After investing time building my skills in photography, I specialized my skillset in portrait photography. Since I moved to Washington, D.C. in early 2017, I have been working exclusively to better communicate my clients' stories using my portraits. I have about 5 lenses now and I decided I'm not spending any more money on this body and I'll be saving money for my Full frame DSLR. Hopefully, a Nikon D850!
If you are thinking about my domain name, why gkpicture.us, I actually put a lot of thought into that. GK are my initials, I used the word pictures as a verb (like saying I photograph) and US is the country I'm currently living and also us is the common pronoun. So it is me saying to you, "I photograph us"
Lenses I have: a Nikon 35mm f1.8, a Nikon 18-55mm f3.5-5.6, a Nikon 55-200mm f4-5.6, a Nikon 50mm f1.4, Nikon 50mm f1.8, and a Nikon 28mm f2.8. In addition, I have a macro lens and ND, CP UV filters which I rarely use
